Shanghai Nai Les James Burley Valve Co., Ltd. has successfully developed PN100 and DN500 fully welded pipeline ball valves, which have passed expert evaluation. This groundbreaking achievement marks a significant milestone in breaking foreign technological monopolies and achieving full localization of critical valve technology.
Long-distance pipelines serve as vital global energy supply routes, with an average of one valve installed every 30 to 40 kilometers. These pipelines are often located in remote, unmanned areas, which demands exceptionally high performance from the valves. During the welding process, strict control over the temperature field, residual stress, and deformation of the valve body is essential. This level of precision has long been a major challenge for domestic manufacturers.
To address these challenges, Niles followed the development strategy of "production, learning, and research" inspired by the 2000 West-East Gas Pipeline Project. After nearly three years of intensive R&D, the company overcame key technical barriers, achieving major breakthroughs in welding techniques and overall valve performance.
Experts estimate that in the next decade, China will need to construct 2.6 million kilometers of new pipelines, requiring approximately 100 large-scale fully welded pipeline ball valves annually. Globally, more than 30,000 kilometers of pipelines are built each year, with around 1,000 fully welded valves needed. This highlights the vast market potential for fully welded pipeline ball valves, offering great opportunities for domestic manufacturers like Niles to expand their presence both domestically and internationally.
