From the sales trends observed in the truck market over recent years, it's evident that July and August have typically marked a sales downturn, with 2004 being the exception. In the first half of this year, the truck market remained relatively insulated from major macroeconomic policy influences. This trend continued into July, where production and sales across all segments declined compared to June. Notably, micro-truck sales were the most affected, dropping by 31.25% from the previous quarter. Despite this, the overall truck market showed significant growth compared to the same period last year, except for a slight decline in China Card and light truck output. According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, total truck sales in July reached 107,057 units in June and 110,688 units in July, representing a year-on-year increase of 11.75% and 16.15%, respectively, but a monthly decrease of 11.78% and 17.76%. In the heavy truck segment, production and sales in July stood at 17,560 and 20,418 units, respectively—though still below the 30,000+ levels seen in 2004, these figures reflected strong year-on-year growth, up 64.28% and 62.02%. Sales of non-integrated heavy trucks and semi-trailer tractors rose sharply, with increases of 85.29% and 80.55%, respectively. The production of semi-trailer tractors saw an impressive 178.50% year-on-year increase, reaching 5,946 units in July. For China Cards, production and sales in July totaled 11,677 and 14,145 units, marking a 3.86% and 11.63% rise year-on-year, though both fell by about 5% compared to June. Non-complete vehicle sales by CNMC decreased by 24.33% and 6.56%, respectively. Light truck production and sales in July were 57,394 and 60,309 units, down 8.81% year-on-year but up 7.86% compared to June. Non-integrated light truck sales increased by 10.96% and 21.35%, showing positive momentum. Micro-card sales in July reached 20,426 and 15,816 units, rising 35.33% and 12.06% year-on-year, although they dropped 9.49% and 31.25% from June. Non-integrated micro-cards saw significant growth, up 70.18% and 60.87% year-on-year. Major heavy truck companies experienced robust growth. FAW Group led with annual sales of 38,185 units, selling 4,252 in July, up 26.43% year-on-year. Dongfeng Motor followed with 37,682 units, selling 4,307 in July, a 27.54% increase. China National Heavy Duty Truck ranked third, with 35,385 cumulative sales and 4,082 units sold in July, up 84.62%. Shaanxi Automobile Group saw a 112.16% jump in July sales, while Beiqi Foton and Chongqing Hongyan recorded growth rates of 130.65% and 105.44%, respectively. These performances drove the overall growth in the heavy truck market, signaling recovery from a previous adjustment phase. In the China Card market, Dongfeng Motor led with 34,348 annual sales, though July sales dipped slightly by 1.18% year-on-year. FAW Group came second with 28,307 units, and its July sales rose 13.10%. The third place was highly competitive, with Jianghuai Automobile barely ahead of Chengdu Ace Vehicles. Chengdu Ace saw a massive 72.94% year-on-year increase in July, demonstrating strong momentum. On the light truck market, Beiqi Foton maintained its top position with 172,972 annual sales, selling 18,266 units in July, up 10.38%. Dongfeng Motor followed closely, with 6,874 units sold in July, a 40.89% year-on-year increase. Jianghuai ranked third, with 5,547 units sold in July, showing a slight decline. In the micro-card segment, Changan Automobile, SAIC-GM-Wuling, and Hafei Motors occupied the top three spots. However, their July sales fell between 8.88% and 22.75% year-on-year, indicating a slowdown in this segment. Overall, the truck market has shown mixed performance across different segments, with some areas experiencing strong growth and others facing challenges. Major players continue to drive the industry forward, contributing to the overall upward trend in certain sectors.
