Bill Friedrich shared the following details about the new MARION Rescue Pumper delivered to Elk Grove Township:
The unit is a Spartan Metrostar chassis with a 10-inch raised roof, designed for enhanced visibility and comfort. It's powered by a strong Cummins engine rated at 450 horsepower, ensuring reliable performance in demanding situations.
The fire truck features a Waterous side-mount single-stage pump capable of delivering 1,500 gallons per minute, making it well-suited for a wide range of firefighting tasks. The pumper also includes a 750-gallon water tank and a 50-gallon foam tank, providing flexibility in both water and foam operations.
A 6,000-watt Will-Burt light tower is mounted on board, offering powerful illumination during night operations or in low-light conditions. The vehicle also has enclosed ladder storage, keeping equipment secure and organized.
For extrication tasks, the front bumper is equipped with two pre-piped TNT extrication cutters and spreaders, along with two 100-foot electric extrication hose reels. This setup ensures quick access to essential tools when responding to vehicle accidents or other incidents requiring forced entry.
The first-due tool compartment is conveniently located and opens directly into the pump access area, allowing firefighters to quickly retrieve tools while maintaining easy access to the pump system.
LED lighting from Whelen enhances visibility and energy efficiency, while the overall design reflects the high standards of Marion Body Works. The unit was built under job number 61911.
