Bill Friedrich shared the following details about the new MARION Rescue Pumper for Elk Grove Township:
The unit is a Spartan Metrostar chassis equipped with a 10-inch raised roof, providing extra headroom and improved visibility. It features a powerful Cummins engine rated at 450 horsepower, ensuring strong performance in all conditions.
The pumper includes a Waterous side-mount, single-stage pump capable of delivering 1,500 gallons per minute, making it well-suited for large-scale fire incidents. The truck also has a 750-gallon water tank and a 50-gallon foam tank to support both water-based and foam-based suppression efforts.
A 6,000-watt Will-Burt light tower is mounted on the vehicle, offering excellent illumination during night operations or in low-light environments. The unit also includes enclosed ladder storage for better protection and organization of equipment.
For extrication tasks, the front bumper is pre-piped with two TNT extrication cutters and spreaders, along with two 100-foot electric extrication hose reels. This setup allows for quick and efficient access to tools during vehicle rescue operations.
The first-due tool compartment is designed to open directly into the pump access area, streamlining operations and improving efficiency during emergency responses. The truck is also equipped with Whelen LED lighting, enhancing visibility and safety during operations.
This new rescue pumper was built by Marion Body Works under job number 61911. Several photos are available that showcase the unit from different angles, highlighting its design, functionality, and overall build quality.
