The solemn farewell to fallen Chicago firefighter Andrew “Drew†Price, who tragically lost his life while fighting a fire at a Lincoln Park building on November 13, took place on Monday. At 39 years old, Price had served the city for 14 dedicated years as the esteemed driver of Truck 44. Known for his exceptional skills and unwavering dedication, he was deeply respected by his colleagues and community alike.
Navy Pier's Aon Grand Ballroom overflowed with mourners, each there to express their condolences and solidarity with Price's family, friends, and fellow firefighters. As a beloved husband, brother, son, and uncle, Price was remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for his radiant personality and constant positivity that lit up any room he entered.
Flags were flown at half-staff until sundown on November 20 to honor Price, whose untimely death marked the fourth line-of-duty fatality for the Chicago Fire Department this year. In August, Lieutenant Kevin Ward, 59, succumbed to injuries sustained during a fire in Norwood Park. Tragedy struck again in April when two firefighters, Jermaine Pelt, 49, and Jan Tchoryk, 55, lost their lives while battling separate blazes within the city limits.
