This is from Eric Haak:

Here are a few photos from this morning’s 2-11 alarm on the 5400 block of South Kedzie. The initial response time was 0547 hours. Companies on scene included Engines 88 and 123, Tower Ladder 39, Truck 52, Battalion 20 RIT with Truck 41. Battalion 19 reported a fire in a one-story ordinary construction commercial strip mall, measuring 100 by 50 feet, that appeared to have started in a liquor store. Both still engines were operating in Sector 1 along Kedzie, alongside Tower Ladder 54 and Squad 5a. Box time came in at 0557 hours, bringing in Engines 65 and 34. Engine 34 was positioned at the entrance to the alley on 54th Place in Sector 3. Tower Ladder 54 was stationed in Sector 4 on 54th Place. The 2-11 alarm was struck around 0614 hours, and companies transitioned to a defensive operation at that point. Battalion 4 served as the Safety Chief, observing the situation from the roof of the building to the north. Engine 65 also operated a line from that vantage point. When I arrived, Sector 3 was heavily smoke-laden, and a discarded hand line was visible through the rear of one of the businesses. The 2-11 alarm was officially declared extinguished around 0720 hours.
