The Antioch Fire Department recently announced a major shift in emergency medical services on their official website:

In response to the sudden departure of the village’s previous EMS provider, the Antioch Rescue Squad (ARS), the Village of Antioch has taken immediate action to ensure continued emergency care for residents. At a special board meeting held on May 23rd, the village approved a plan to directly manage ambulance services through the Antioch Fire Department. As part of this initiative, Superior Air Ground Ambulance Service, Inc. was awarded a six-month contract to provide two fully equipped ambulances and four trained fire and EMS personnel starting June 1st.
This decision came after ARS declined an offer from the village board at the May 20th meeting to extend their current contract. With this transition, the Antioch Fire Department will now be responsible for both fire and advanced life support (ALS) services across the community. In addition to the existing ALS engines, new fire department ambulances will be stationed at Fire Station 1 on Holbek Drive and Fire Station 2 on Deep Lake Road to better serve the needs of village residents.

This development marks a significant change in how emergency services are delivered in the area. The community is now relying more directly on the local fire department for critical medical assistance, which may lead to improved coordination and faster response times.
