The recent domestic automobile tour of Russia, organized by the China Federation of Machinery Industry and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, has come to an end. According to a reporter, Chinese auto manufacturers are intensifying their efforts to penetrate the Russian market. Shaanxi Auto Heavy Trucks recently secured a contract for 1,000 trucks in Russia, with projections to export up to 2,000 units this year. FAW's Weizhi sedan has signed 5,000 export contracts, and the first batch of 638 vehicles has already been shipped from China. In November last year, Dongfeng signed a three-year exclusive sales agreement with one of Russia’s leading car distributors. Meanwhile, companies like JAC and Shuguang are also ramping up their presence in the Russian market. Ding Lei, a senior export officer at FAW Import and Export Corporation, mentioned that the company aims to capture 5% to 10% of the medium and heavy truck market in Russia within three years. He estimated that the target could be around 3,000 to 5,000 units annually. Yang Xiaodong, director of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, emphasized the importance of tailoring products to meet Russian conditions. For instance, auto parts must withstand extreme temperatures—both high and low. Additionally, vehicle designs should align with local preferences, such as larger seats and more spacious interiors. These adjustments are crucial to better suit the needs and expectations of Russian consumers.
