Home-made cars begin to sell in the Russian market

The recent domestic automobile tour in Russia, organized by the China Federation of Machinery Industry and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, has concluded. According to a reporter, Chinese auto manufacturers are intensifying their efforts to expand into the Russian market. Shaanxi Auto Heavy Trucks recently secured an order for 1,000 trucks in Russia, with projections to export up to 2,000 units this year. FAW's Weizhi sedan has signed contracts for 5,000 vehicles, with the first batch of 638 units already shipped from China. In November last year, Dongfeng entered into a three-year exclusive sales agreement with one of Russia’s leading automobile traders. Meanwhile, companies like JAC and Shuguang are also ramping up their presence in the region. Ding Lei, the third minister of exports at China FAW Import and Export Corporation, shared that the company aims to capture 5% to 10% of the medium and heavy truck market within three years. He mentioned that they expect the number to reach around 3,000 units, eventually expanding to 5,000 stations across Russia. Yang Xiaodong, director of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, emphasized the importance of tailoring products to meet Russian conditions. For instance, car parts must be able to withstand extreme temperatures—both high and low. Additionally, design elements should align with local preferences, such as larger seats and more comfortable interiors. These adjustments are crucial to better suit the needs and habits of Russian consumers. As the market continues to grow, Chinese automakers are making strategic moves to ensure long-term success in this key region.
