Waste tires, often referred to as "black pollution," pose a significant environmental challenge globally. Their recycling remains a complex issue, with only about 10% of old tires being refurbished worldwide, and in China, the rate is even lower at around 5%. Most waste tires are either burned, landfilled, or stockpiled, causing severe environmental damage. Meanwhile, as the world's largest consumer of rubber, China faces a growing resource crisis. In response, a groundbreaking technology called "HL production of rubber raw material complete sets of equipment using waste tires" has emerged. This innovation transforms used tires into high-quality rubber materials that can rival natural and synthetic rubber, offering both environmental benefits and efficient resource utilization.
Shanghai Honglei Fine Powder Complete Equipment Co., Ltd. recently announced a major breakthrough after a decade of research. The company successfully developed a process that uses waste tires and rubber as raw materials, crushing them at room temperature through a fully automated, closed-loop system. The resulting fine rubber powder was modified into a plasticized form, capable of replacing traditional rubber sources. The world's first 10,000-ton-class production line for this technology was launched in Jiangyan City, marking a milestone in tire recycling. This system enables waste tires to be transformed into finished rubber products, becoming a model for sustainable waste management in China.
Cheng Yuan, vice president of the China Tire Renovation and Recycling Association, emphasized that this technology is rewriting the history of rubber recycling. With the development of this third source of rubber, it could significantly reduce China’s reliance on imported materials. According to reports, the cost of producing this plasticized rubber powder ranges from 6,000 to 9,000 yuan per ton, making it competitive with natural and synthetic rubber. Companies like Taiyuan Rubber Plant have already adopted this material, reporting improved performance and cost savings.
Li Jing, director of the Environmental Protection Department under the National Development and Reform Commission, highlighted that over 70% of China’s rubber needs are met through imports. With annual consumption exceeding 5.5 million tons and rising international rubber prices, the industry is under pressure. Additionally, China produces over 430 million tires annually, generating more than 140 million waste tires, which further intensifies environmental and resource challenges.
To address these issues, Shanghai-based Bao Guoping founded Honglei Fine Powder Equipment Co., Ltd. in 1998. After eight years of R&D, the company developed the first normal-temperature, low-pressure fine powder technology, earning multiple patents. However, the initial product had limited applications. Through continuous improvements, Bao and his team developed a new method that combines physical treatment with a small amount of chemical additives, transforming vulcanized rubber powder into a plasticized form. This material can now replace natural and synthetic rubber in various applications, with superior mechanical properties.
Bao Guoping also proposed the concept of "industrial parks" to promote large-scale tire recycling. Several projects are already underway, including a 20,000-ton park in Suzhou and a 30,000-ton facility in Shanxi. A 100,000-ton production base is being planned in Xiangyang, while Taizhou is preparing a cold-processed rubber production base. These initiatives aim to transform waste tire recycling into a sustainable and profitable industry.
Bao believes that waste tire recycling will become a new industrial sector. To achieve this, three key areas must be addressed: promoting agricultural and industrial tire applications, entering partnerships with global tire brands, and establishing international standards to enable futures market trading. With continued innovation and investment, the future of tire recycling looks promising.
The mixing machine is applicable to mix dry granule material for pharmacy and other relative industries. The machine has the features of the special construction, high effect, no dead angle, uniform mixture. The machine can also increase to blend the function compulsorily. It can mix thin powder and more than two form powders including the materials that contain water. It can get the good result of admixture (meaning that little admixture additives).
