The "Screw Compressor Design Theory, Key Technologies and Series Product Development" project, jointly completed by Xi'an Jiaotong University and Yantai Ice Wheels Co., Ltd., was recognized with the Second-Class National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2006. This achievement marked a significant milestone in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning technology. The project's key technologies and software have since been licensed both domestically and internationally, with over 20 companies successfully implementing them and achieving notable improvements in performance and efficiency.
Through this project, researchers accurately uncovered the intrinsic relationships between the thermal performance of screw compressors and critical design parameters such as rotor profiles. This led to the establishment of a comprehensive design theory for screw compressors. Several important technological challenges were addressed, including the development of rotor profile design methods, advanced cutter edge techniques for machining rotors, and the creation of specialized design and calculation software for screw compressors.
The project resulted in 12 patent authorizations and one software copyright, demonstrating its innovation and technical depth. In collaboration with leading industry enterprises, a series of high-performance screw compressor products were developed. These products have achieved energy savings of 5% to 8% and reduced noise levels by 5 to 10 decibels, significantly enhancing user experience and environmental sustainability.
Industry experts and professionals have praised this achievement for addressing long-standing challenges in the sector. They believe it plays a crucial role in advancing technological progress and driving the industrial structure optimization of China’s compressor, refrigeration, and air conditioning industries.
