Following the successful implementation of acrylonitrile technology by the Shanghai Research Institute of Petroleum and Petrochemicals in Belarus, positive news has once again spread across overseas markets. Recently, the toluene disproportionation catalyst developed using the institute's technology was successfully applied by Naftan, a leading company in Belarus. In June, the catalyst was shipped to Belarus, marking the second time this type of catalyst has been exported internationally after its successful entry into the Middle East market. On September 11th, a team from the Shanghai Institute arrived at the site after a 20-hour journey. Despite the long trip, they immediately headed to the facility to meet with the project owners and finalize the start-up plan. That same night, the catalyst was heated and dehydrated, preparing it for operation. By September 14th, the unit was successfully fed, and the catalyst performed exceptionally well—its reaction temperature was 50°C lower than that of other catalysts used by Naftan, showcasing the superior quality of the Shanghai Institute’s technology. During the 12-day start-up service, the technical support provided by the delegation was highly praised by the local team. This successful trial not only demonstrated the reliability and efficiency of the catalyst but also laid a strong foundation for expanding the Shanghai Institute’s global market share in toluene disproportionation technology. With such achievements, the institute is now more confident than ever in its ability to compete on the international stage.
