September 23, 2017 – At approximately 0645 hours, the 5th Battalion and several companies were deployed to a reported fire at an ordinary three-story apartment building. As they were en route, the Englewood Fire Alarm Officer (FAO) issued a "Still & Box" alert for reports of people trapped inside the structure. Engine Company 84 and Truck Company 51 arrived first and reported heavy fire in the rear of the building. Battalion 5 soon followed and confirmed fire extending through the roof. Due to the dangerous conditions, a 2-11 alarm was called, and all units were pulled out of the building. Five 2.5-inch lines were stretched, while Tower Ladder 37 and Squad Company 5’s Snorkel worked with elevated master streams. Engine Companies 84, 45, and 50 used their deck guns to combat the flames. Unfortunately, searches could not be completed due to concerns over the building's structural integrity. Firefighters also faced high humidity and temperatures in the 80s. Still Alarm companies included: E84, E47, T51, T30, BN5, Sq5, 2-7-5, RIT, BN6, T15, A55, A36, and 4-5-8.
