Under extreme pressure, additives can form metal phosphides, sulfides, chlorides and other low-melting substances with the metal, so that the friction surface forms a layered structure, easy to cut, so under extreme pressure conditions, can replace the broken oil film , play the role of extreme pressure lubrication.
The common gear oil is refined from lubricating oil. In use, it mainly relies on the viscosity and physisorption of its own arsenic and arsenic oil to form a layer of oil film on the surface of the gear, which separates the tooth surfaces and acts as a lubricant. The thickness of the oil film produced by common gear oil will also change with the load. When the load increases to a value, it will cause the oil film to break, causing the gear surface to produce dry wear, resulting in scratches between gear tooth surfaces. Gluing causes severe wear, so the final gear must use hyperbolic gear oil with extreme pressure properties.
