Application of Ferro Sulfur for the manufacturing of cast iron:

Low sulfur content in gray cast iron molten iron is harmful: poor inoculation effect, poor graphite morphology, and poor cutting performance
When melted in a foundry, the residual sulfur content decreases, mainly due to the use of scrap steel and low sulfur.
The content contained has been determined, and if the sulfur content is below 0.04%, melting will not easily react with the inoculant.
Therefore, it is necessary to use sulfur addition agent to increase the sulfur content, in order to maintain the sulfur content within the range of 0.05% to 0.12%.
Within this range, sulfur shortens the length of graphite, blunts its ends, bends its morphology, and improves its mechanical properties. When the sulfur content is below 0.05%, sulfur addition treatment must be carried out.
According to metallographic analysis, sulfur in molten iron exists in a special form, so it is necessary to use a specialized sulfur addition agent when adding sulfur. Do not use sulfur or other sulfur containing minerals as this can greatly damage the internal structure of the casting!
For ductile iron, a low sulfur content (below 0.008%) in the raw molten iron is also unfavorable. The normal range of 0.010% -0.014% is better. However, for electric furnace melting, it is necessary to use sulfur oxygen inoculants within this range to slightly increase sulfur and improve the activity of molten iron
The use method of sulfur addition agent: During the production process of the electric furnace, a small amount of iron is added to the furnace, and then sulfur addition agent with the particle size of 8-25mm is added to the furnace according to the sulfur demand. Then add iron to press the sulfur addition agent for melting, with an absorption rate exceeding 99%
