Grayslake Fire Protection District has recently acquired a 1988 Pierce Dash 1250-GPM, 2500-gallon tanker that was previously in service with the Libertyville Fire Department since 2010. The unit was originally purchased new by the Countryside Fire Protection District back in 1988, and it served them for many years before being transferred to Libertyville. Now, after its long career, this classic tanker is making a new home in Grayslake, continuing its legacy of supporting emergency operations.
The tankers have been captured in several photos, showing their history and current status. One image features the original Countryside FPD Tanker 4 112 from 1988, while another shows the same unit in service with Libertyville FD as Tender 461. There are also pictures of the tanker being used during a fire, highlighting its role in supporting engine companies. Recently, the unit has been seen in Grayslake, now operating under its new department, and it's clear that it still has some life left in it. These images provide a glimpse into the long and storied history of this piece of firefighting equipment.
