ExxonMobil™ Refining and Supply Joliet Refinery Chooses Ferrara® Fire Apparatus for New Equipment Acquisition

HOLDEN, LA – Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc., a subsidiary of REV Group and a top producer of fire equipment, is proud to announce that ExxonMobil Refining and Supply Joliet Refinery has selected them as the manufacturer for their latest fire apparatus order.

The Joliet Refinery, located 40 miles southwest of Chicago, is adding a state-of-the-art Ferrara Inferno® Industrial Super Pumper® to its emergency response fleet. This new unit is designed to enhance safety, efficiency, and performance at one of the country’s largest refining facilities.

Chief Michael Smith from the Joliet Refinery shared his thoughts on the decision: “We needed a high-capacity, reliable fire apparatus to handle our growing infrastructure demands. Maneuverability and quick delivery were also key factors. Ferrara not only met our expectations but exceeded them with the Inferno model.”

Ferrara’s design team worked closely with the refinery to customize the unit based on specific operational needs. The final product features a heavy-duty two-door cab and chassis with a MAXX-Strength marine-grade aluminum body. It also includes a cutting-edge Wireless Remote Controlled Task Force Tips Tsunami deck gun, which significantly reduces the number of personnel required to set up large flow systems. As Chief Smith noted, “Reducing setup time improves scene safety and allows us to respond more effectively.”

In addition to the deck gun, the unit is equipped with the FoamPro® AccuMax® Fusion multi-point direct injection foam system, capable of delivering 300 GPM of concentrated foam. This system provides greater flexibility compared to the refinery’s existing balanced pressure foam setups, making it ideal for a wide range of emergency scenarios.

“The Super Pumper will allow us to respond faster and with fewer staff,” said Chief Smith. “It’s a clear reflection of our commitment to safety and preparedness at the Joliet Refinery.”
