It is reported that the national "10th Five-Year" major technical equipment development project of the Three Gorges major technical equipment localization research project has passed the national acceptance.
The 26 sets of hydropower generating units with a capacity of 700,000 kilowatts are designed and installed in the Three Gorges Project. It is one of the largest power generating equipments in the world. When the first batch of units was internationally tendered, Chinese enterprises could only manufacture units of less than 300,000 kilowatts, which was nearly 30 years behind the international advanced level. To this end, the relevant state departments and the Three Gorges Corporation have fully applied international trade rules, formulated and implemented strategies for introducing, digesting, and absorbing advanced technologies to re-innovate and realize the localization of major technical equipment in the Three Gorges. Dongfang Electric Machinery Co., Ltd., Harbin Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. and other domestic key enterprises and scientific research units have jointly tackled the problem. In just over 6 years, they have absorbed and absorbed the core technologies of design and manufacturing transferred by multinational companies such as Alstom and Siemens, and improved and innovated. After the installation and operation of the two units in the Three Gorges Left Bank Power Station, their main indicators have reached the level of international similar products; in the tender of the Three Gorges right bank unit, domestic enterprises won 2/3 of the total.
