International Paint noted that the new product is designed to improve and enhance customer choice, making the company the first and only company in the world to produce copper and silicone acrylate antifouling coatings.
In 2006, International Paint successfully acquired a patented silicon acrylate technology that combines with the Intersmooth 7465Si SPC and Interswift 6900Si, meaning a performance rating similar to that of the current Intersmooth 7460/5HS SPC, Interswift 6800HS copper acrylate.
The two new silyl products are designed for the maintenance and repair of new deep-sea vessels and existing ships, with solvent emissions below 400g/l VOC, which is the lowest level of silicone acrylate solvent emissions in the industry. For shipyards, it can be quickly applied, reducing waste consumption and reducing solvent emissions to air. For ship operators, they can provide ships with up to 90 months of high-performance dirt control, reducing fuel consumption, reducing operating costs and CO2 emissions.
