Excerpts from MySuburbanlife.com:
Mayor Donny Schmit of the Village of Fox Lake has expressed concerns about the village’s role in negotiating fire and ambulance services, stating that “there’s politics involved.†He believes it’s time for a change.
A key issue is set to be decided on March 15, when voters will be asked whether the village should join the Fox Lake Fire Protection District. If approved, the district would take over responsibility for collecting taxes for these services, removing the village from direct negotiations with service providers.
Residents who choose to join the fire district would pay slightly more in taxes—approximately $60 more annually for a home valued at $100,000. This increase is due to the district’s higher tax rate, which was raised last year to cover ambulance costs.
To address this imbalance, the village currently transfers an extra $210,000 in property tax revenue to the fire district each year. This money could otherwise be used for other local needs, such as infrastructure or public services.
Fire Protection District Chief Ron Hoehne explained that if the referendum passes, “all ambulance and fire tax rates will become equal across the village and the district.â€
The fire protection district covers approximately 33,000 residents across multiple communities, including parts of Fox Lake, Round Lake, McHenry, Ingleside, Lakemoor, Spring Grove, Volo, Grant, Burton, and Antioch Townships.
With 55% of the district’s emergency calls originating from the village, Mayor Schmit argues that joining the district would create a fairer system for everyone involved.
“That’s how our three district trustees and our department feel,†said Hoehne, adding that several nearby communities, like Wauconda, McHenry, and Spring Grove, have already made the switch. “It’s happening all around us—Wauconda, McHenry, Spring Grove, Lake Villa, Grayslake, and Round Lake are now part of fire protection districts. Antioch is also working on it.â€
If the vote passes, the fire district plans to hire three additional firefighter/paramedics, which would mean one more person on duty each day. It would also allow them to catch up on replacing aging vehicles.
However, if the referendum fails, the village would continue its current arrangement, but residents would still pay less than those in the district, and the village would have to keep subsidizing the difference, according to Schmit.
Welded Plate Heat Exchanger belongs to Recuperative Heat Exchanger, and is fully welded between every two plates to form channels through which the fluids with different temperature can flow and exchange heat. The high temperature fluid transfers heat to the low temperature fluid through the plates, thereby realize heat exchanging. The flow velocity of each fluid can be controlled by plates distance, so as to meet the working condition perfectly. In addition, there is also the semi-welded type plate heat exchange.
Welded Plate Heat Exchanger is mainly for vapor condensing and liquid to liquid heat exchanging, to meet with various requirements from industries like power sector, petrochemical, petroleum coking, pharmacy, metallurgy, refrigeration, paper processing etc. Optimal arrangement of various channels also make sure of high heat transfer efficiency and minimal pressure loss. Besides, its frame is detachable, and therefore it is convenient to have either mechanical cleaning or chemical cleaning as per actual situations.
