Here's a message from Eric Haak:
This week, I’m sharing some historic photos from a 5-11 alarm fire that took place on January 28, 1965. The location was an abandoned grain mill at 2203–09 South Lumber Street. For those familiar with the area, this site is now home to Ozinga Concrete, just south of Cermak Road along the Chicago River. The second image shows Engine 8, and the last one features Engine 23. In the fourth photo, I can count 13 master streams in action. The time was reported as 4:47 p.m. I hope you enjoy these glimpses into Chicago’s firefighting history.
