On November 1, 2011, Total (China) Investment Co., Ltd. officially started construction of a lubricant blending plant that was invested in Tianjin Bonded Area. The project will invest 30 million euros (about 280 million yuan) and the plant will become one of Total's largest lubricant production plants in the world.
According to reports, Tianjin Lubricant Blending Plant is a subsidiary of Total (Tianjin) Industry Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Total China, and will produce a full range of lubricants after it is put into operation. The new Tianjin lubricants blending plant adopts world-class technologies and equipment and will produce a full range of lubricant products for the automotive and motorcycle industries, industrial equipment, OEM and shipping markets. The products meet the most stringent European quality standards. In addition, the construction and operation of the factory will also strictly enforce the highest international safety and environmental standards. The new Tianjin plant will also provide Total's unique fuel economy lubricants to reduce fuel consumption for vehicles and heavy equipment. The maximum annual output of the factory is expected to reach 200,000 tons, and it is planned to be put into production in 2013.
