Fuping had a long and diverse career—starting as an educated youth, then working as a worker, engineer, Communist Youth League cadre, stationmaster, chairman of a joint-stock company, and later as a director of the Yulin Development and Reform Commission. He spent 27 years in cities like Shenzhen and Dalian before returning to his hometown, Yulin. “If you don’t have strong willpower, don’t try it. He never took credit for Yuchai’s success, often saying, “I personally don’t have much energy. I didn’t come after the team, and the executives didn’t go ahead of me. That’s what makes me feel most satisfied.†For ordinary employees, he showed deep care. Once, he saw that new college graduates were struggling with poor living conditions and immediately decided to allocate RMB 1 million to improve their housing. “I didn’t do it for any other reason except to help Yuchai grow,†he later said. He encouraged employees to voice their opinions, valued good suggestions, and always welcomed workers who came to see him. He even told his secretary, “Absolutely no one should be turned away.†When he saw frontline workers staying on duty during holidays, he would personally thank them, saying, “Thank you for staying at your post for Yuchai this New Year.â€

In just three years, Yuchai’s sales revenue exceeded 20 billion yuan for the first time, up 13.51% year-on-year and 71.59% compared to 2005.
