On what was otherwise a beautiful and slow day, Larry Shapiro arrived at a fire scene at 1010 Johnson Drive in Buffalo Grove. The incident occurred inside an industrial facility, where smoke had been reported. Fire companies responded promptly and found the building already evacuated, with heavy smoke filling the interior. A machine inside the structure had sparked a fire, igniting some filters. As a result, Northbrook Tower Ladder 12 was called in as a second unit to assist. The fire was quickly brought under control using a single line from Engine 26.
The scene was captured by Shapiro, who documented the efforts of the firefighters. One photo shows Buffalo Grove Tower 25 being raised in case access to the roof was needed. Another image highlights Engine 26 deploying a hose line into the building to suppress the flames. Smoke still lingered in the production area of Vapor Bus International, showing the intensity of the fire. Inside the affected space, the damage was visible, with equipment and materials impacted by the heat and smoke.
Firefighters were seen exiting the building, with one being hosed down as a precaution. Another firefighter was also cleaned up after coming out, ensuring any harmful substances were removed. Outside the building, two Ferrara units from Buffalo Grove were stationed, ready for further action if needed. The response was swift and effective, with the fire extinguished before it could spread.
