In recent years, the domestic acrylic market is very popular, which is mainly due to the rapid development of the acrylic deep-processing industry and the continuous expansion of the acrylic acid downstream, especially the acrylate application market.
In 2004, China produced 170,000 tons of acrylic acid and imported 114,000 tons. Among them, about 172,000 tons for general-purpose acrylate production, accounting for 60.6% of total consumption; for the production of special acrylic esters about 28,000 tons, accounting for 9.7%; for polymers And other products accounted for 29.7% of total consumption.
Due to the development of the coating industry and radiation curing technologies, the demand for specialty acrylates has increased substantially, which has contributed to the rapid growth of specialty acrylate production. In 1988, the global production of specialty acrylates was only 66,000 tons, and in 2003 it reached 180,000 tons, with an average annual growth rate of more than 10%.
At present, there are more than 30 enterprises in China producing special acrylates with a total capacity of 80,400 tons per year. In 2004, the total output of China's specialty acrylates was 91,590 tons, and 27,350 tons of various specialty acrylate monomers were produced.
Radiation curing is the main consumer market for specialty acrylates. For a long time, the global radiation curing market has been mainly concentrated in Europe and North America. In the past two years, China's radiation curing industry has developed rapidly, driving the booming radiation curing market in Asia. In 2004, China's radiation curing products were 32,600 tons and consumed 29,300 tons of specialty acrylates. In foreign radiation curing products, UV curing products account for 95%, and EB curing products account for 5%. China currently has no EB curing production lines, and all radiation curing products are UV curing products. In 2004, 77 companies in China produced a total of 32,599 tons of UV curing products. UV curing products in the production of the most UV curable coatings, in 2004 a total of 44 companies in China produced UV curing coatings reached 23,300 tons; followed by UV curing ink, in 2004 China's 35 companies produced a total of 9,058 tons of UV-cured ink, compared to 1999 The annual growth rate is nearly 6 times, which is the fastest growing UV curing product; China's UV curing adhesive development is relatively late. In 2004, there were 10 companies producing 242 tons of products. The products include medical instruments, optical instruments, glass, and fishing gear. Crafts and so on.
At present, although China's radiation-curing industry has achieved rapid development, it still has a certain gap compared with other developed countries and regions such as Europe, the United States, and Japan. We have weak corporate R&D strength and fewer high-end products, especially products with independent intellectual property rights. In recent years, foreign waterborne UV coatings and inks, powder UV coatings, dual curing systems and other products have been industrialized, and China is still in the research and development stage. Therefore, the potential market for China's radiation curing industry is still very large. It is estimated that the output of radiation curing products in China will reach 60,000 tons in 2009, and about 54,000 tons of special acrylates will be needed.
